The Alvarado Project has shared works by renowned artist-photographer, Ricardo Ocreto Alvarado, with the world for the past 25 years–now it is time to reach a new generation of observers and community members to catch a glimpse of the past through Mr. Alvarado’s eyes.
We cordially invite you to join our next event, “The Alvarado Project: The Next Generation”, presented by TheAlvaradoArchiveX, on April 8th, 2023 from 3:30-6:00pm at the I-Hotel Manilatown Center at 868 Kearny Street, San Francisco, to celebrate Mr. Alvarado’s artistry and lasting legacy.
Mr. Alvarado’s works have been successfully featured alongside collections, such as the Wylie Wong-May’s Studio Collection of photographs and the Ruth Asawa Papers. Mr. Alvarado’s works have also been featured at the Smithsonian. Iconic images from the Alvarado archives were on display at the Cantor Museum in 2022 and his upcoming exhibit sponsored by the Department of Special Collections, Stanford University Libraries, scheduled to open in May 2023 in the Peterson Gallery and Munger Rotunda, Cecil H. Green Library.
The Alvarado Project: The Next Generation, curated by Mr. Alvarado’s daughter, Janet Alvarado, will show the recognizable intersectionality of individuals from various cultural backgrounds coming together in San Francisco. The historical context behind Mr. Alvarado’s works are not only local to San Francisco, but tells the story of California and of the United States.
The event does not have a fee for admission, but donations are accepted. We also will have raffles for generous prizes and encourage that guests participate.
We hope that you are able to join us on this special afternoon. To RSVP, please register at the following link.
